House Where Teenage Girl was Found Murdered, Cleared to be Demolished

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The City of Dallas is moving forward with a plan to demolish the house where a 13-year-old Lancaster girl was murdered after being kidnapped earlier this year.

Shavon Randle’s family asked the city to take the house down because it reminds them and the community of her tragic death. Dallas County District Attorney Faith Johnson said the case is still being investigated, but the abandoned house in South Dallas is no longer needed for evidence.

“I have recently been made aware of the concerns the community has over a home in the 2200 block of East Kiest Boulevard that is the subject of an investigation by my office,” said Johnson. “Although our investigation continues into the deaths of the victims in this case, we are not opposed to the home being torn down, as we have conducted several thorough searches gathering evidence relevant to our case, thus concluding that portion of our investigation. City Officials have been apprised of this update. We continue to pray for the victim’s families and will continue to vigorously pursue justice on their behalf.”

City Councilman Dwaine Caraway said there are better ways to remember the girl.

“I do intend to have a tree planted there in the baby’s honor,” said Caraway. “In Shavon’s honor.”

The community will be asked to give input on what to do with the property after the house comes down.
