OurCalling Shelter in Dallas Dedicates Facility to Helping Unsheltered Homeless

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – Dallas city leaders dedicated a 32-thousand square foot outreach center on Thursday to help the unsheltered homeless.

Judge Clay Jenkins spoke at the OurCalling Shelter ceremony and said Texans answered the call during Hurricane Harvey but need to translate that to people who have been without a home for years.

“These people, these neighbors, that are on our streets everyday, we need to have that same outpouring of love for them. Together we can ends homelessness but it takes all of us,” he said.

Jenkins urges all North Texans to take a moment to lend a helping hand to a stranger in need.

“We can’t do everything as church, as governments, as a community group, as a person but everyone can do something,” he said.

The OurCalling Center is a zero-barrier facility equipped with locking showers, toilets and laundry rooms.

It also hosts classes and worship services for the homeless.
