Texas Department of Public Safety Seeks Public’s Help in Fatal Hit and Run Case

ALLEN  (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Texas Department of Public Safety is asking the public to help find a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred on the Sam Rayburn Tollway in Allen last weekend.

The department’s Lonnie Haschel said the crash happened around 1:45 a.m. on Sunday. He said a pickup truck, possibly a Fort Ranger, was traveling north on the Sam Rayburn Tollway in the center lane near Custer when it hit the rear of a 2003 Lincoln Aviator, which was also in the center lane.

The driver of the truck failed to stop and render aid, immediately left the scene and continued north on the Sam Rayburn Tollway.

The victim, identified as 44-year-old Christopher Givens of McKinney, was taken to Medical City in McKinney where he died of his injuries.

Haschel said the suspect’s car will have damage to the left front side.
