Alleged Shoplifter Hit by Car, Killed Running From Police Across North Richland Hills Highway

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS (WBAP/KLIF News) — A shoplifting suspect who was running away from North Richland Hill Police was killed trying to cross the highway.

Police say the man took off after they confronted him in a Wal-Mart parking lot around 5:00 Sunday evening. They say he bolted toward NE Loop 820 and crossed the service road, which is where he was hit by a car.

Police say they tried giving him CPR and had him taken to the hospital, where he was eventually pronounced dead.

No officers or other civilians were injured.
