DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — This past weekend Six Flags Over Texas began flying one flag, six times, removing the controversial Confederate flag along with the flags of four other nations that once flew over the Lone Star State. Instead of seeing the flags of France, Spain, Mexico, the Confederate States and the Republic of Texas, visitors are now greeted by six U.S. flags flying over the entrance to the Arlington theme park.
Texas Ag Commissioner Sid Miller is fuming mad over the change. He sent out a press release Monday stating, in part, that he is disappointed to see the company “succumb to this scourge of race baiting, liberal activism.”
“The bringing down of these flags as well as the removal of our historical monuments around the country is just another act of appeasement to the intolerant, liberal, and oftentimes violent left who strive to establish a false narrative where our state’s and nation’s history is one dimensional. It is not!” Miller said.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports Miller said he’s concerned about “the militant, anarchist movement sweeping the country,” a trend that “very well could eventually bring down the American flag.”
Six Flags Entertainment, based in Grand Prairie, Texas, operates 20 parks across the U.S. but the ones in Arlington, San Antonio and Atlanta are the only parks that were flying all six flags.
