Austin (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas Democratic legislator Eric Johnson is asking the Texas State Preservation Board to remove from the state capitol’s rotunda room a plaque that hangs near the entrance to his new office. That plaque was put there nearly 60 years ago. Johnson objects to it because it denies the south rebelled against the union, and insists slavery had nothing to do with it. Johnson wants the plaque removed, and is calling for a discussion about the appropriateness of the monuments to the Confederacy on the state capitol grounds.
