FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) — The Fort Worth City Council could vote Tuesday on whether or not to join a statewide lawsuit fighting the anti-sanctuary city law.
Councilman Carlos Flores submitted a proposal asking the council to vote, though it could be delayed until the end of the month. In the proposal, Flores writes that the law raises many constitutional issues and hurts local governments from effectively managing resources for police.
The proposal is supported by three other council-members, making it four of the nine currently in favor of joining the suit.
The city decided not to join it at a work session earlier this month. Fort Worth is the largest Texas city not part of the suit, which includes Dallas, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and El Paso.
