Mayor Declares ‘Pudge Week’ in Dallas

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The City of Dallas has declared this week ‘Pudge Week’ in honor of former Texas Rangers’ catcher and Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Pudge Rodriguez.

Mayor Mike Rawlings read a proclamation at Wednesday’s City Council meeting acknowledging Rodriguez’ accomplishments.

“Mr. Rodriguez was named Major League Baseball MVP in 1999 as a member of the Texas Rangers,” said Mayor Mike Rawlings. “And was named the National League Championship Series MVP in 2003.”

Pudge will have his number 7 jersey retired in Arlington this Saturday.

“All the fans are a big support for my career and I thank you all for the support to me and the Rangers,” Pudge said.
