FRISCO (WBAP/KLIF) – The Collin County Health Department has confirmed a human case of West Nile Virus. Officials say the Frisco resident has recovered from the Neuroinvasive form of the virus.
The report marks the city’s first human case this season. Collin County health officials alerted Frisco staff about the case in the 75035 zip code. The patient did not report any travel history outside of the United States.
“Because the patient is no longer ill and we don’t know where or when the patient was infected, there’s no spray treatment plan scheduled,” said Julie Stallcup, Environmental Health Supervisor. “However, staff will continue routine checks for stagnant water throughout the city, treating as needed. We can’t stress enough the importance of practicing good habits to ‘fight the bite’.”
The City of Frisco says it supports precautionary habits promoted by the Texas Department of State Health Services, including wearing mosquito repellent, draining standing water, and wearing long sleeves at dawn and dusk.
