Family of Boys Electrocuted by Downed Line Sues Oncor

Ft. Worth (WBAP/KLIF News) – The family of two boys killed when they touched a downed power line in Fort Worth have sued Oncor Electric Delivery. Alex and Isaiah Lopez were electrocuted in Oakland Lake Park March 29.

“There’s absolutely no reason two beautiful boys who are eleven and 12 years old had to die,” says Jeff Rasansky, the family’s lawyer.

The lawsuit says Oncor uses interactive technology that provides real-time notification of power disruptions. Rasansky says Oncor should have worked more quickly to address problems in the park.

“They had the resources to put out there,” he says. “They need to take care of it.”

The lawsuit accuses Oncor of negligence. Oncor put out a statement saying it cannot comment on pending litigation.

“I would like to express my condolences for the Lopez family for their loss,” Oncor Spokesman Geoff Bailey writes in a statement. “While Oncor is aware of the lawsuit, we have not yet been served.”
