DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – A Dallas City Councilman has come up with an idea to help both homeless people and stray dogs at the same time.
Councilman Kevin Felder said the plan is to house a select number of homeless people and train them to rehabilitate stray dogs.
“In my district, we have a dog bite at least once a month. We’ve got to curb that,” he said.
Felder said the program is in it’s early stages with more planning ahead but will be beneficial to the city.
“We’re trying to address both issues at the same time,” he said.
The city may get some high-profile help. Felder said he wants to bring reality-television star dog whisperer Cesar Millan to Dallas to get his advice on the program.
He said he’s working on getting funding for the project which could mean temporary housing for the homeless while they train dogs.
