MCKINNEY (WBAP/KLIF News) – An Allen man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for sexually abusing a child that was related to him.
Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis said James Schafer sexually abused the child for several years and it started when she was six years old.
Authorities became aware of the abuse in 2016 when Schafer told family members in Michigan what he had done to the child.
Michigan State Police were tipped off about the abuse and the case was referred to the Allen Police Department after investigators discovered that some of the abuse occurred in Texas.
Schafer pleaded guilty to the charges.
