Garth Brooks Offers to Pay for Newly Engaged North Texas Couple’s Honeymoon at Concert

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — A North Texas man proposed to his girlfriend at a Garth Brooks concert in Oklahoma this weekend — but it’s what happened after the proposal that is grabbing everyone’s attention.

The country singer noticed the proposal, stopped mid-verse during the song “Unanswered prayers,” and congratulated the couple before asking them a question.

“Where do you want to go on your honeymoon?” Brooks asked on the microphone. “Where? No idea? Well I tell you what — if you pick Hawaii, Mrs. Yearwood and I will pay for it.”

Trisha Yearwood, Brooks’ wife, also performed during the concert and was asked by her husband if it’s OK that he just funded the newly-engaged couple’s honeymoon.

The couple is from the mid-cities area. Drew Bargsley — the man who proposed — originally took his girlfriend as a birthday present before proposing.
