Dallas Fort-Worth Business Owners Write Letter to State Lawmakers Regarding Bathroom Bill

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – According to Forbes Magazine Dallas is home to one of the nation’s fastest growing economies. In the wake of the upcoming special session, opponents of the state’s “bathroom bill” say it could greatly impact Dallas Fort-Worth’s employment market.

Several business owners have joined together to voice their concerns to Governor Greg Abbott, saying the bill brings uncertainty for business owners, specifically in Dallas.

In a letter to Governor Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick and Speaker of the House Joe Straus, the owners say the bill would “seriously hurt the state’s ability to attract new businesses, investments and jobs.”

American Airlines Chairman Doug Parker and AT&T’s CEO Randall Stephenson are among the fourteen business owners who signed the letter.

Other companies such as Dallas/Fort Worth  International Airport and Texas Instruments say they support diversity and inclusion and the bill “threatens our ability to attract and retain the best talent in Texas.”

The bill would require transgender people to use bathrooms based on their biological sex, not their personal identity.

If approved, the bill will take effect in September.
