McKINNEY (WBAP/KLIF News) — There’s a new scam in Collin County residents need to be aware of.
The Collin County Sheriff’s Office says there’s at least one person calling around and telling you that you missed a jury summons, owe the department money, and need to meet them at the sheriff’s office parking lot to pay it.

Deputy Jim Moody says there have been multiple reports, with at least one coming from Frisco.
“It’s not just McKinney. It has expanded at least into further Collin County,” Moody said. “But it could be anywhere in the Metroplex.”
He says the sheriff is taking the scam seriously, and that you need to contact them if the scammer calls you. They also want to remind citizens that they would never ask for money.
“He’s got his staff working diligently to catch these con-artists,” Moody said. “He feels like it’s a matter of time if you help him get these people in jail.”
