Wal-Mart Launches New Option for Online Order Pickup in DFW

The Colony (WBAP/KLIF News) – Wal-Mart is launching a new way for people to pick up online orders at a store in The Colony. Wal-Mart has placed a 16 foot tower near the front of the store where employees will load online orders for customers.

“When it comes to online services, it’s an integrated service for us,” says Jeremy Vojacek, the launch coach for Wal-Mart’s “Pickup Tower.”

When people place an order online, employees at the store will pick up the items and load them into the tower. Customers will receive an email or text when the order is ready.

The message will contain a barcode customers can scan at the tower. The tower will then pull the order and deliver it to the customer.

“Our target audience is anyone who’s making online purchases today,” Vojacek says. “That’s someone who is looking for convenience, someone who’s looking for an alternate way of picking up their item.”

Wal-Mart currently offers free grocery pickup. Pickup Tower will be free for users also. Vojacek says the time needed to stock orders may change as the number of people using the app increases.

Wal-Mart plans to install Pickup Towers in six stores in North Texas by the end of the summer.
