“Problem Solvers Caucus” Works Out Compromises in Congress

WASHINGTON, DC (WBAP/KLIF News) — A group called the “Problem Solvers Caucus” is working toward compromise on hot budget issues in Congress.

Twenty Democrats and Twenty Republicans meet each week to work through issues that might keep bills from passing, and to try to find common ground.

Texas Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (D-McAllen) says they don’t always see eye to eye, but that they respect each member and their point of view.

He says, “We don’t always agree, but at least we get to have candid conversations with each other, and sometimes convince each other that one or the other is wrong on something.”

The group was instrumental in getting a budget bill passed earlier this summer.

Gonzalez says right now, one of the major issues they’re tackling is new healthcare legislation.

You can listen to Rep. Gonzalez’s entire interview on the KLIF Morning Drive With Dave & Amy here.
