SOUTHLAKE (WBAP/KLIF) — A former Deloitte & Touche account manager accused of stealing from the company and trying to kill his former boss in Southlake has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Wednesday, 40-year-old Alan Fowler received the maximum sentence for attempted murder and a second-degree felony. On August 9th, Fowler went to the home of supervisor Kevin Lane with the intent to kill him. Lane who had been Fowler’s supervisor was out of town, but his wife was home when the alarm system went off. Police arrived and found Fowler sitting on the ground in the patio kitchen at Lane’s home. They found a pocket knife on Fowler and would later find a bag containing a 9mm handgun. Attached to the gun was an oil filter investigators think had been used as a makeshift silencer. Police also discovered where Fowler had cut off the power to the Lane home and where he had fired a bullet into a window.
In August 2015, Deloitte says they discovered that Fowler had been steeling money from the company and using it to pay for family vacations along with the purchase of thousands of dollars worth of gift cards. Instead of charging Fowler with a crime, he was fired. Fowler then filed a wrongful-termination lawsuit blaming Lane for the majority of his troubles at the accounting firm. Lane was a witness in the lawsuit.
Fowler plans to appeal his conviction.
