DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Texas Governor Greg Abbott is standing behind Attorney General Jeff Sessions announcement to crack down on sanctuary cities.
In a statement, the governor said he applauds what he called the bold action by Sessions that aims to end sanctuary city policies that endanger American lives.
Abbott said the previous administration turned a blind eye to the issue and now the federal government is sending a clear message.
Sessions said cities that protect immigrant felons from federal immigration laws may see cuts in grants from the Justice Department.
Governor Abbott had said this year that he would bring the hammer down on Dallas County, for example, if the County implemented actions regarding a controversial welcoming community resolution.
