Water District Conducts Annual Maintenance

PLANO (WBAP/KLIF) – Some customers of the North Texas Municipal Water District may smell and taste chlorine in their water for the next several weeks.

The district is adding chlorine at water treatment plants in Wylie, Tawakoni and Bonham as part of it’s annual maintenance. The district’s Denise Hickey says “the purpose of adding straight chlorine is to maintain water quality, but also assist the cities in reducing the amount of water they have to flush during the summer months.

The process will continue through April 10th. During that time the cities will also flush the tanks to get the chlorine into the system quickly.

The NTMWD stresses the water is safe to drink.
