GARLAND (WBAP/KLIF News) – A Garland police officer is recovering in the hospital after a suspected drunk driver allegedly hit his squad car over the weekend.
Investigators said the officer’s car was hit in the rear while blocking traffic for a car-fire accident at West Campbell Road near the George Bush turnpike around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
The driver, who police identified at Kelsey Harrington of Rockwall, allegedly walked away from the scene but was later found and arrested.
The 14-year police veteran, who police have not identified, sustained non-life threatening neck and back injuries and was taken to Plano Medical Center.
Harrington faces charges charges of driving while intoxicated and failure to stop and render aid.
