Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott announced on twitter Monday that he’s donating $21,000 to the Salvation Army to help others. He went on to say, “Your $21 feeds a family for 3 days.”
Elliott made huge headlines Sunday night when he jumped into a Salvation Army kettle while celebrating a touchdown against Tampa Bay at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The NFL penalized the Cowboys 15 yards for the stunt, but on Monday the league announced it wouldn’t fine Elliott. Before the announcement, Elliott said he would donate any money he was fined to the Salvation Army. Even though he’s not being fined Elliott said he would make a donation anyway.
The Salvation Army says donations to the red kettle campaign rose 61% Sunday night after Elliott’s stunt.
