DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – Dallas Police believe weather may be to blame for the death of a woman found under a tarp this morning. Overnight temperatures dipped beneath 20 degrees.
Officers received a call about the body outside of apartment building on Al Lipcomb Way and South Trunk Avenue just after 1 a.m.
Investigators are not sure how long she had been there or why she was taking shelter under the tarp. Her identity has not been released.
The below freezing temperatures prompted MedStar to implement their cold weather protocol which goes into effect when temperatures feel cooler than 25 degrees.
MedStar advises North Texans to be aware of the wind chill factor which can cause the body to lose even more heat than normal and to limit your time outdoors if possible.
