Dallas (WBAP/KLIF News) – First responders in Dallas are getting a pay raise.
The City Council voted unanimously to approve the raise, that’s been hammered out over several months between the unions and the City. At the center of that work has been city manager AC Gonzalez.
“It depends on the step that an individual’s in as to how much of a raise they’ll be getting,” said Gonzalez. “57% of the members of both police and fire will be getting over a 25% raise over the next three years.”
Even those senior officers and firefighters, who’ve maxed out their steps, will get a small raise. Gonzalez is retiring at the end of January…he says this is a good way to go out.
Also in City Council business Wednesday, members voted unanimously to make TC Broadnax Gonzalez’s replacement. Broadnax was actually offered the job last week, but the vote made it official. He’s currently the City Manager of Tacoma Washington.
He’ll start February 1st; Gonzalez retires January 31st.
