Controversial Plans for New Richardson ISD School Suspended Indefinitely

RICHARDSON  (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Richardson Independent School District suspended plans to build a new White-Rock area elementary school at a widely contested site.

The school was supposed to be built at the intersection of White Rock Trail and Walnut Hill Lane.

The move comes after intense scrutiny from the community, who expressed concern about numerous issues including the school’s size, traffic, children’s safety and cost to taxpayers.

Officials said although the plans are on hold, they will continue to figure out the best way to address overcrowding at White Rock Elementary School in Lake Highlands.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the district is working with a consulting firm to come up with a new plan.
