DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Somali-born man suspected of mowing down a group of pedestrians and stabbing people with a butcher knife during an attack at Ohio State University had a brief stay in Dallas.
Abdul Razak Ali Artan stayed in temporary housing provided by Catholic Charities for 23 days after he, his mother and six siblings arrived in Dallas in 2014. They moved to Columbus, Ohio after their stay.
Catholic Charities, a government refugee resettlement program, said they will share information with the Columbus Police Department as authorities investigate what led up to the attack.
Eleven people were hurt, one critically, before Artan was shot to death by the police after the attack Monday morning.
His background as a refugee drew ire from many across the nation, including Texas Governor Gregg Abbot.

Authorities said Artan was a legal permanent resident of the United States and had been a student at Columbus State Community College.
Investigators said they’re looking into the possibility that Artan had terrorist ties.
