SAN ANTONIO (WBAP/KLIF News) – A group of police officers from Dallas are headed to San Antonio to attend the funeral of a detective who was killed in an ambush-style attack last week.
Det. Benjamin Marconi, a 20-year veteran of the force, was gunned down outside of police headquarters while writing a ticket.
“It’s the least we can do for a department that supported us in July,” said Dallas Police Association President Fredrick Frazier. “They brought 30 guys down here. They patrolled our streets. They brought their cars and uniforms. They did the same work that we do here day-to-day, but they brought their stuff and did it here.”
Otis McKane was arrested on capital murder charges in Marconi’s death.
Marconi’s funeral is being held at 11:00 a.m. at the Community Baptist Church.
