Graduates of Elite Dallas School Launch Fundraiser Disavowing White Nationalist Classmate

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The alumni from a prestigious Dallas school launched a fundraiser repudiating one of their most controversial classmates.

The St. Mark’s School of Texas Class of 1997 launched the Crowdrise Fundraiser in the name of Richard Spencer, the white separatist seen in a video shouting “Hail Trump” as the audience raised a Nazi Salute.

The online fundraiser benefits the International Rescue Committee, a nonprofit that helps refugees and asylum seekers find homes in Dallas.

The mission statement on the group’s Crowdrise page disavows Spencer.

“Spencer’s views are un-American and a threat to civil society. We reject them and urge everyone to join us in condemning him and his agenda,” it said.

The campaign has already raised almost $45,000, surpassing its initial $5,000 goal. Spencer is scheduled to speak at Texas A&M next month.

University Senior Vice President Amy Smith said they did not invite Spencer to speak and added that the university doesn’t endorse his rhetoric.

She said the school does allow private citizens to reserve space available to the public. The school has not commented on whether or not it will cancel his speech.
