Fundraiser for Police Takes Place in Denton on Saturday

denton-fund-backing-the-blueDENTON (WBAP/KLIF News) – An organization in Denton has put together a night full of food and fun.

Proceeds from Backing the Blue’s “Family Fun Night” on Saturday will go toward injured and fallen police officers and their families.  “We saw a need after the tragic shootings of the officers in Dallas in July,” said Chairperson Julie Landolfo.  “There’s still a need, because unfortunately we continue to lose officers.  We thought we would do a bigger event, bigger than our previous fundraisers, and see if we can’t help more families.”

There will be a silent auction and games for the kids.  “There are hundreds of tickets online,” said Landolfo.  “Of course we are selling tickets at the door, but I would hate for anyone to miss out.  We’re are encouraging people to get their tickets in advance.”

Click here to purchase your tickets.  It’s $10 for adults and $5 for kids.  Children under 2 get in for free.

The group hopes to raise more than $20,000.  “The money is important, but we also want to show our local officers and all law enforcement that we care.  The support is also just as important as the monetary donations,” added Landolfo.

The event is from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Denton Civic Center.  The first 100 people get a gift.
