Cockrell Hill (WBAP/KLIF News) – Cockrell Hill Police said the man suspected in a hit and run involving an officer last month was arrested Wednesday morning.
They said a tip to the Tool Police Department in Henderson County lead investigators to Ramiro Silva Miranda’s whereabouts.
Investigators said Miranda allegedly refused to get out of his car during a traffic stop October 30th after he handed the officer a fake Mexican Consulate card and said his name was Everardo Benavides-Perez.
When the officer opened the door, Miranda allegedly took off and dragged him 15 feet before his lower body was run over by the truck.
The officer was taken to the hospital and was treated for a broken ankle, abrasions, soft tissue damage.
Miranda is charged with aggravated assault on a public servant with a deadly weapon and an outstanding warrant for a probation violation. He’s being held on a $250,000 bond.
