Woman on Life Support After Brutal Beating at a Denton Salvation Army

william-stevensDenton (WBAP/KLIF News) – A homeless woman is fighting for her life after being brutally beaten outside a Salvation Army store in Denton last week.

A witness told police he saw a man kicking and stomping Jessica Yankow’s head and neck. They said the suspect, who police identified as William Stevens, ran away when noticed the witness calling the police.

When officers arrived, they found Yankow lying unconscious in the parking lot.

Officers searched the area and found Stevens just a few blocks from where the beating occurred. Police said he admitted to the crime and they arrested him on a charge of aggravated assault.

He’s being held at the Denton County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

Yankow remains in critical condition at Denton’s Regional Medical Center.
