(WBAP/KLIF News)  More drivers are killed in Texas because of animals than in any other state, and there’s a particular danger this month. That’s actually twice as many deadly animal-related crashes in the Lone Star State. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says there are more than 5,000 vehicle-animal crashes in Texas each year and 17 of those drivers are killed. With November being deer hunting season, more deer cross roadways this month. The IIHS says deer cause more than $1B each year in vehicle damage. It advises to slow down on roads in rural areas, make sure you have comprehensive coverage with your insurance company and call 911 if you hit an animal.
