(WBAP/KLIF News)  Open enrollment for plans part of the Affordable Care Act starts today for coverage starting next year, but prepare yourself. You may be in for a shock. Ken Rosenberg is an independent insurance agent in Plano and he says premiums are up as much as 50%. For many families, their health insurance costs them more than their house payment. Also, more providers are refusing to accept Obamacare, making more difficult for people with a plan to find a doctor. Rosenberg also says the more lenient PPOs are disappearing, leaving only the more restrictive HMO plans available. There are some alternative plans available, called MECs, that will exempt you from the penalty for lack of coverage and they are less expensive than many plans in the marketplace. Just ask your agent for more details.
