(WBAP/KLIF News) Good news in an age of controversy surrounding local law enforcement. A new poll shows 3 out of 4 Americans have a great deal of respect for police. That’s the highest rate of approval in nearly 50 years. Tim Tremaine is a sergeant with the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office and says he has the key to reestablish trust in the remaining 25% by ridding departments of negative thinking and incorporating a program for officers to take to the streets called “LEGiT.” “LEGiT” is a response to the issue of legitimacy when it comes to how communities view their relationship with officers. It involves officers checking themselves and their comrades when negativity comes into play on the streets.
