A New Home Healthcare Service Brings Hundreds of Jobs to North Texas

DFW (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Honor company opened two information centers at Wal-Mart stores in Arlington and North Richland Hills this week in an effort to reach people who are in need of home health care as well as those in a need of a job.

According to the United States Census Bureau, there are currently over 320,000 residents 65 and older in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and that number will double by 2030.

Honor’s Kathryn Parsons said many of those people will be in need of home healthcare. She said the daunting numbers are creating a perfect storm.”We do not have enough people to provide care at home and adult children are not always able to do all the care that is necessary to keep someone in their home and we have more people getting older and needing more assistance,” said Parsons.

Parsons said the company needs to hire hundreds of workers in North Texas to meet the needs of the community. “On a weekly basis we are hiring and the unique thing about Honor is that no matter how much care someone has given in a professional capacity in the past, we still put them through the same training,” she said.

Parsons said what makes Honor, a Silicon Valley startup, unique is its use of technology to provide a higher quality of service. An app called Honor Family allows clients to schedule services for their loved ones and gives professional caregivers access to important information about their patients.

The company’s healthcare professionals, called CarePros, are considered the heart and soul of the company. Parson’s said they’re looking for special people to do a very important job.

“That’s one thing we look for in our CarePros is that they have a passion for the elderly and when we can find that spark we want to make them a part of our Honor team,” she said.
