Richardson (WBAP/KLIF News) – Former Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy is facing a felony drug charge after he was arrested Sunday night. Hardy allegedly had 0.7 grams of cocaine in a wallet in his car.
According to a police affidavit, the officer stopped Hardy around 11:22 p.m. for failing to use a turn signal after turning onto Midway Drive from North Glenville Drive. The report said the officer gave Hardy a verbal warning for the traffic violation but asked for consent to search his car.
Police said Hardy told the officer he didn’t know what the substance was. He told police he was at a party Saturday night and had passed his wallet around because he was paying for everyone. Police said he told them that someone must have put the substance in his wallet.
Hardy was booked into Richardson City Jail and was being held on a $5,000 bond. Hardy played for the Carolina Panthers for five years and joined the Dallas Cowboys in 2015. His career has been marred with drama off of the field. Hardy was arrested in 2014 for allegedly assaulting an ex-girlfriend and threatening to kill her.
He was placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List for 15 games in the 2014 season and a four-game suspension in the 2015 season because of the incident. The charges were later expunged from his record. He has been a free agent since parting ways with the Dallas Cowboys in 2015.
