Man Allegedly Breaks into Garland Backyard, Beats Puppy to Death and Buries It

fermin-riveraGarland (WBAP/KLIF News) – Garland police arrested Fermin Rivera for allegedly beating a puppy to death in a woman’s backyard and burying it.

Homeowner Guadalupe Gonzalez told police she heard noises coming from her backyard Monday afternoon. She said she looked through her window and saw Rivera digging a grave for her dog, which he had allegedly just killed. She quickly called the police.

Police said when officers approached Rivera, he was digging the hole and told him he lived at the house on Bernice Drive. Surveillance footage shows Rivera allegedly slamming the dog onto a concrete slab twice.

Investigators believe Rivera was under the influence of an illegal substance and arrested him on animal cruelty and attempted burglary charges.
