This is not something I see everyday. It is also not something I consider common. But, I do see it from time to time on social media and I do not understand it. Why do some parents post pictures of their children crying?
I’m not talking infant children or a child scared to death of Santa Claus. I’m talking anywhere from about three-years-old to teenaged years responding in a normal fashion to what life throws at them sometimes.
Let’s go back a few years. Using me as an example, let’s go back to the late 1980s. I would be around four or five years old.
Today, we simply take the picture on our phone and within seconds can upload it to whatever site we prefer. We are now used to that. Back then, my parents would have to take a picture of me upset, develop it, make copies and snail-mail those pictures to family and friends. (Disclaimer: This never happened.) You would think that would be some sort of mental child abuse when put in that perspective.
So, with the convenience of photo sharing these days, and for some the addiction to social media, I ask again: Why do some share pictures of their children crying?
My daughter insists on looking at any photo I take of her or of us before I post. Fine with me.
If I uploaded a photo of her upset over anything, something tells me that it would only make matters worse for her and payback a few years down the road is all but guaranteed.
