
Mesquite (WBAP/KLIF News) – Mesquite police arrested Mathew Helget for allegedly stabbing his older brother, John Helget, to death during a drunken argument.
Police responded to a family violence call at 11:43 p.m. Saturday on Via Corona in Mesquite, where they found John Helget bleeding from his stab wounds.
Family members told police the brothers got into an argument after a night of heavy drinking. They said the fight escalated and Mathew allegedly drew a knife and stabbed his brother several times in the neck.
Paramedics rushed John Helget to the hospital, where he died of his injuries. Mathew Helget is charged with first-degree murder and is being held on $1 million bond.
