Boys Safe After Mother Arrested in Arlington

Arlington Police 1Arlington (WBAP/KLIF News) – A woman faces some serious charges stemming from an incident Sunday, in which her 9-month old son was found face down in a field, covered in bug bites.  Lieutenant Chris Cook with the Arlington PD says Amanda Smith told them she’d left the boy behind an auto shop.

“We found this little baby boy, face down in the thick ground cover, underneath a stroller,” said Cook.  “This area was really thick with brush and briars, it was only a few feet from a creek, so anything could’ve happened.”

Cook says Smith appeared intoxicated and was un-cooperative.  She allegedly wandered into a stranger’s house through an unlocked door, which is what prompted the police call.  Cook says Smith tried to climb a fence to run away from police, dragging the two-year old with her.

The 9-month old and his brother are with grandparents.  Smith is set for arraignment Tuesday.
