Interchange Shut Down After Semi Crash, Fire

LEWISVILLE (WBAP/KLIF News) – Hazmat crews spent several hours cleaning up along the Sam Rayburn Tollway after an 18-wheeler crashed and caught fire early Wednesday morning.

The driver slammed into a dividing wall along a ramp from the tollway to Southbound 35E, according to a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety.  The big rig carrying paper products burst into flames.  Investigators said the trucker wasn’t driving in a marked lane just prior to the crash.

The ramp was closed for several hours as crews cleaned diesel off the highway.

The driver was taken to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
