Rain Soaks North Texas

Flood 041816DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – Torrential rainfall has caused dangerous flooding across North Texas.

Since 6:53 a.m. Sunday, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport has received 2.39 inches of rain.  WBAP/KLIF Meteorologist Brad Barton said the Metroplex can expect another 2 to 3 inches by Wednesday night.

The National Weather Service has issued flood watches and warnings for much of the state through at least Tuesday.

A voluntary evacuation warning was issued in the Horseshoe Bend area, as officials said the Brazos River could rise several inches above flood stage.

High water has closed several roads including I-35E at Illinois in Dallas.

Lake Bridgeport is closed to boats, according to a news release from the Tarrant Regional Water District.

The heavy rain also forced the Texas Rangers to postpone their game against the Baltimore Orioles Sunday afternoon at Globe Life Park in Arlington. It has been rescheduled for June 20.
