DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The lead prosecutor on the John Battaglia murder case says he’s disappointed the convicted murderer’s execution has been stayed.

Saying there’s no better candidate for the death penalty, Attorney Howard Blackmon says Battaglia wanted to get back at his ex-wife for leaving him.

“It was to take out his vengeance on his own flesh and blood… his little girls by murdering them and allowing the mother to hear it on the phone, the screams an the gunshots.”

Battaglia will remain on death row through the appeals process.
