GRANITE SHOALS (WBAP/KLIF News) A Texas woman fell prey to a scam by police that put her behind bars. Officers in Granite Shoals, northeast of Austin, shared a “Breaking News Alert” picture on Facebook last week that included a fake warning which said “If you have recently purchased meth or heroin in central Texas, please take it to the police so it can be screened.” The message went on to say “do not use it until it has properly been checked for possible Ebola contamination.” Chasity Hopson saw the post, and took her meth right in to the police department to be tested. Hopson faces several charges, including possession of a controlled substance. Most users who commented on the post said they thought it was a humorous way to catch drug users. But, a handful of people said they didn’t find it funny, because they had family members suffering from addiction.
