TARRANT COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF News) – A Fort Worth police officer is facing a charges of aggravated assault by a public servant after he shot a man that he thought was holding a knife.

The Tarrant County DA’s office says officer Courtney Johnson was responding to a call of a suspicious person.

“The officer arrived on the scene and interacted with the citizen. At a certain point, the officer’s gun was discharged and the citizen was injured.”

Samantha Jordan with the DA’s office says Officer Johnson was indicted Tuesday and has already posted bond to get out of jail.

The large knife he thought the victim was holding was actually a barbecue fork.
