DALLAS (WBAP/KLIFNEWS) – Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings continues to support Police Chief David Brown despite the huge increase in the city’s crime rate.  Rawlings told KLIF’s “Dave and Amy” he is 100-percent behind Brown’s plan to move 600 officers to the overnight shift to address the problem.  Rawlings met last night with members of the Dallas Police Association and the Black Police Officers Association.  Both groups are calling for Chief Brown to retire or step down.  Rawlings says he’ll bring the association’s concerns directly to Chief Brown.   Rawlings says the City Council must also help address the problem.  He’s talking with city leaders about adding 50 police officers to the city budget for the coming year.  Chief Brown announced Monday the city’s murder rate is up 86-percent so far this year.
