FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – A man will serve the rest of his life behind bars.
A jury in Tarrant County has sentenced Broderick Cofer, 45, to nine life sentences after he was convicted of sexually assaulting a relative.
Cofer acted as his own attorney at trial. The jury didn’t take long to determine he had repeatedly abused his niece. It started in 2011 when she was 15-years-old and continued for three years, according to court papers.
Prosecutors said Cofer will probably die in prison, as he was ordered to serve seven of the sentences concurrently. The other two life terms will be served consecutively.
