Dallas Looking to Integrate Schools

DISDDALLAS (WBAP/KLIF NEWS) – The Dallas ISD wants to integrate students from high income schools with students from schools that have high poverty.

The district’s Mike Koprowski tells the Dallas City Council that benefits will come with integration.

“Economically diverse schools tend to attract the more effective, experienced teachers. More affluent kids come to school with double to vocabulary of lower income kids. That vocabulary is shared through informal interactions throughout the school day.”

He adds if students are exposed to kids with different backgrounds, they can actually become smarter.
