Grant’s Rant – Pete Sessions Warns Me, “You’re Making Enemies” – 09.03.15

In the fall of 2013 Congressman Pete Sessions looked me in the eye and told me I needed to get out of radio because I was making enemies.  He clearly didn’t like my limited government, anti-incumbent message I push over the air.  We were in a suite at Cowboys Stadium.  The Cowboys were playing the Redskins, but the game I was focused on was my own match, Conservative vs. Establishment,  Stinchfield vs. Sessions.  I leaned in slowly towards the Congressman, I smiled back at him and whispered, “I think you should get out Congress, its YOU who are making enemies.”  We didn’t speak again.

It was at that moment I lost all respect for the man who was supposed to be representing “we the people” in Washington.  I realized Rep. Pete Sessions sadly represents only himself and the ruling class of career politicians he conspires with.   If Sessions is afraid of a radio host, how is he going to take on the President of the United States?

Sessions is the very man Republican Congressman Michael Burgess offered up as a replacement for Speaker of the House John Boehner.  (He also thought Rep. Jeb Hensarling would make a good choice for Speaker.  Not my pick, but better than “Ole Pete.”)

Burgess was in studio with me.  He impressed me with his willingness to come in and answer tough questions live on my show.  Only one other local Congressman will, John Ratcliffe.  But when Burgess said Pete Sessions would be a viable replacement for Boehner I nearly fell out of my studio chair.  I could only muster a flabbergasted, “WHAT!? SESSIONS! but he’s one of them.”

I had just started to praise Burgess for being gutsy about speaking openly in favor of replacing John Boehner.  That’s a dangerous game in DC, because Boehner is known to be vindictive and ruthless.  He will eviscerate anyone who crosses him.  Burgess had also just revealed on the show, that he sent a letter to Speaker Boehner’s office demanding he apologize for calling Sen. Ted Cruz a, “jackass.”  There’s not another member of the North Texas Congressional Delegation willing to confront Boehner head on like Burgess is doing.  (Rep. Louis Gohmert does, but he’s in East Texas)

I should blast Burgess for even thinking Pete Sessions should be Speaker.  But then I thought, baby steps.  We have a Congressman willing to make a change at the top.  That’s a start.  But Burgess needs to hear from you.  Call his office, encourage him to keep fighting back against Boehner, but voice your opposition to Pete Sessions as a Speaker candidate.  Let him know Pete Sessions no longer represents the people who elected him.  He has been part of the Boehner machine that has rolled over and waved the white flag every time President Obama makes an illegal overreaching move.   Here’s Burgess’s office numbers, (202) 225-7772 and/or (940) 497-5031.

And if you really want to make your voice heard, call Pete Sessions office and tell him you agree with me.  (202) 225-2231 and/or (972) 392-0505

Every time he puts self-interest above national interest he harms America.  Tell Rep. Sessions what I told him in that suite at Cowboys Stadium, It’s time he gets out of office because he’s making enemies at home, enemies out of conservative voters.
