Body of Missing Grand Prairie Father Pulled From White Rock Lake

UPDATED 2:00 PM – Grand Prairie Police now identify the body as that of missing Alfonso Hernandez.  The body is in the custody now of the Medical Examiner, which will determine the cause of death.

DALLAS – WBAP/KLIF – Dallas Fire and Rescue officials have pulled the body of a man from White Rock Lake near the spillway.  The recovery effort Sunday morning was apparently fraught with it’s own problems, as the boat emergency personnel used for the purpose capsized, sending all workers into the chilly waters themselves.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner will determine identity and cause of death, but there is speculation now that the man’s body could be that of missing Grand Prairie father 28 year old Alfonso Hernandez.  He and the mother of two young children, 26 year old Weltzin Garcia, were reported missing February 5th, and a vehicle belonging to one of the missing parents was found, apparently abandoned, at White Rock Lake a short time after the missing reports were filed.

The couple have two young children, and custody for them could be decided in hearings resuming this week.  Right now the kids are in foster care; family members are seeking custody of the children.
